Dr Subhash Chandra Das is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with more than two decades of specialist practice across Australia and internationally. He is currently a Consultant Psychiatrist at Monash Health, having previously held senior consultant roles at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Northern Hospital, Bendigo Health, Goulburn Valley Area Mental Health Service, and Latrobe Regional Hospital.
Dr Das completed his medical degree (MBBS) at Calcutta National Medical College, followed by advanced specialist training in psychiatry, including a Diploma in Psychological Medicine (DPM) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Psychiatry from the Central Institute of Psychiatry, India. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and holds Specialist Registration in Australia.
His clinical expertise spans general adult psychiatry, mood disorders, bipolar affective disorder, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, and complex presentations requiring multidisciplinary care. Dr Das has extensive experience across acute inpatient, community, and consultation‑liaison psychiatry, including work within large tertiary hospitals and regional health services.
A key strength Dr Das brings to private practice is his strong foundation in evidence‑based psychotherapy. He has completed advanced training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), including an 18‑month RANZCP‑approved academic program, and has received supervised training in CBT and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). He has also undertaken additional training in family‑based psychotherapy and eating disorder management.
Dr Das is deeply committed to clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety. He has been actively involved in clinical governance committees, policy and protocol development, peer review groups, and hospital audit programs. His leadership experience enhances his ability to deliver high‑quality, well‑coordinated care within private practice settings.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Das maintains a strong academic and teaching profile. He has served as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at Monash University, and has worked as an OSCE examiner for RANZCP. He has authored multiple peer‑reviewed research publications in Australian and international psychiatry journals, including research on bipolar disorder, psychosis, COVID‑19‑related psychiatric presentations, and inpatient mental health outcomes.
